Not really, Canadian BD was sought after by UK squaddies as it was a better quality serge as well... particularly desirable to walking out kit.

Were post-war brasses only brass-plated? I have some belt hardware that looks like it.

Belts stated out with brass, then steel, then webbing for sliders all as sliding economy measures. Post war webbing was painted black and buckles after that in 44 and 58 pattern anodized (although 44 pattern has been known to be mde with brass fittings).
I've never heard of brass plating metal work but it may well have happened.

Post war they also reverted to using brass. I have a 50 something dated belt with brass fittings.
Some repros are reported to have brass plated fittings but I've not seen any.

Brass furnitured 37patt belts were manufactured up until the late '70s for parade use.
I use a 1972 dated 37patt belt to hold my work trousers up everyday!

Your Brass plated belt it likely to a modern RMP Best belt. I have in my shed, I got it from the stores a few years ago.
I've not just one that's brass fittings and postwar dated....
I've got two that have been blackened (one I use everyday for my trousers), had one that was beautifully MP whitened (sold to stof), one that was painted plum/maroon...etc... - all (except for the MP one where I don't think I could find a date) were dated either '60s or '70s.

It depends... some will, some won't fit the 1911... It's a bit of a lottery. If the popper isn't central then you have more chance and certainly you'd need that for the browning.
There's actually various sizes of 37 pattern holster, though it's hard to tell them apart unless you have them next to each other.
Mine does fit both the browning and m1911

Can i just check that the 37 pattern pistol (webley?) holster (the regular clip top one, not the folding browning one) will fit a M1911 pistol? Or a Browning HP for that matter?
I know it will go in the type with the offset popper - I use one for mine.

My 1911 only fits by opening the side stitching a little (and I soaked the holster while I was having a bath, towelled it dry then rammed the pistol into it and let the ensemble dry naturally!
My dad says no to creases in working BD trousers.
Best BD, absolutely, and in your blouse too, but working/combat BD no.
He was post war, 46-49 Royal Engineers so things might have changed?

As we are on scruffy..... what is the correct way to blouse BD trousers before putting the anklets on? I've been grabbing the front of each leg an folding outwards, but I can't say it looks right. is there a standard way of doing this, or is it something which varies by regiment?
My 1911 doesn't fit my 37 holster, I obviously need to stretch it a bit 
I have a duff Glock for holster stretching purposes.

I haven't a clue of an official way either, but I've been doing similar, but grabbing two ears out either side off my ankles and folding them both towards the back. I chose this way as it stops there looking like the trouser legs are twisted from the front.
